Can’t figure out a theme for this year’s party?
You’ll find dozens here. How about a Mummy’s
Tomb Party. This picture shows a delicious
new buffet perfect for your party, including a
pyramid cake and a recipe for Egyptian Date
Candy that actually came from 1600 B.C.
Then there’s the ever popular Pirate Party.
I’ve got tons of ideas on this one, including
a quick, cheap and easy way to make your
own Pirate Cannon and cannon balls.
You’ll also find menu and recipe suggestions
for many different parties. Here’s some of
the menu suggestions for the Pirate Party:
Prisoner’s Toenails (Coconut Crisps)
Ships Barnacles (Pork Pineapple Kabobs)
Goat Curry
Under the Eye Patch Pilaf (Coconut Rice Pilaf)
Are you a traditionalist who goes in more
for attractive or vintage decorations?
Maybe you’re not even planning a party,
you just want to come up with some good
ideas for decorating. I’ve got those for you, too.
Each party chapter contains all aspects necessary to ensure an exciting Halloween
season, such as Costumes, Invites, Decor, Entertainment/Activities, Food/Drink and
Gifts/Prizes. There also an entire chapter on Halloween music suggestions - from Classical to Hip Hop to Jazz to Rock to Old Pop and more.
I’ve got some quite different ideas of
ways to decorate using things you
already have in your home. There several
ideas for your ceiling fan, such as the
spinning spider. And I love coming up with
ideas for your kitchen. There’s several
suggestions on what to do with your
refrigerator. One idea is to turn it into
Frankenstein. You can still open and shut
the refrigerator, of course. There’s even
many ideas for your car!
I certainly haven’t forgotten the more
gruesome types of parties or decor. You
can bring the horror into all parts of your
party from the invitation to the decor to
to entertainment, food and libations.
Does everybody remember Beetlejuice
turning into a snake on the stairwell scaring
the bejeebers out of everyone? A feather
boa, a Beetlejuice mask and a rattle can
bring him right into your home.
Now, for some direct quotes from the book just to give you a little more flavor. Remember, there are over 1,500 ideas in the book, this is just a little taste.
Spooky Party Outdoor Decor: Foggy graveyard scenes are done to death (har-har) but continue to be lots of fun. Why not have a tombstone set up for each guest with their name inscribed and the date of the party as the date of death? Have a different cause of death listed on each tombstone and leave the implement of destruction there, such as a knife on one, a noose on another and a chainsaw on yet another.
Spooky Party Indoor Decor: www.HauntedMemories.com specializes in turning your portrait into a horrifying vampire, zombie, skeleton, demon or whatever you’d like. A similar thought would be to have www.HauntedStudio.com paint a picture of your house as a haunted house. What a terrific focal point of your party. A copy of this would work wonderfully as your personalized invitation, too.
Horror Party Entrance Decor: For a truly terrifying Zombie attack look replace your front door with a fake one that looks as though its been kicked or beaten in. You could have blood splatters and bloody handprints all over it and a fake leg stuck in part of it.
Goth Party Indoor Decor: Cornucopias are symbols of the season. Turn one into a symbol of the Halloween season by having a group of small skulls and bones (or mice, snakes and roaches) spilling out of a black cornucopia in the center of your table topped with black flowers and ribbons.
Horror Party Invitation: An unusual suggestion would be to make your invitation in the form of a police issued ticket for something strange, such as Murder, Lewd & Lascivious Behavior, General Zombie rampaging or some other comic violation requiring an appearance in court at your party. This could end up even more fun if you set up a court scene at the party. Picture the interesting punishments each guest might receive.
Horror Party Entertainment: You could have a Worst Costume Contest and execute the winner. This could be by guillotine, electric chair, chain saw or whatever you can devise.
Ladies Fright Night Entertainment: A fun astrology twist would be to gather some information on each guest ahead of time, such as their birth dates, time and location of birth and send them to www.Gemnaries.com. You can request in-depth horoscopes, an assessment of patterns of past lives or life progression reports, currently costing $7 to $12 per report. Each lady could then open and scan her report, sharing what she likes with everyone. What a hoot!
Ladies Fright Night Activities: ‘The Wicca Spellbook’ by Gerina Dunwich offers some recipes for Samhain incense, oil and potpourri as well as spells. In your invitation you could assign each guest a different item to bring for your Samhain spell, potpourri or incense and have a ritual putting them all together and portioning them out at your party.
